How to read the risk score

The day, at a glance. Air temperature and sky conditions at your location, right at the top of the home screen.

Your coastline, together. Nearby beaches, streaming cameras and a row of water, air, wind and swell readings in one place.

Check the flags first. The captured screen says “Patrol unknown, check the flags”. Confirm the patrol and follow advice on the beach.

A view of the water. The Live tag refers to a camera stream. It does not mean rip detection is running; detection has only been tested at Palm Beach.

A reading with context. The captured Manly Beach card shows 55, Moderate risk. This score is separate from detection confidence and is not permission to swim.

Your next view, one tap away. Home, Map, Detect, Alerts and Profile keep the main parts of the prototype within reach. Detect opens the camera view.

Detection has only been trained and tested on Palm Beach footage. These are explanatory drawings, not live results.

No outline does not mean no rip. The model has not marked a region in this example. It can miss rips, including ones that are small, distant or outside the camera view.

A possible rip, with uncertainty. A red outline marks a region the model identifies as a possible rip. An outline can be wrong; detection confidence is not a swimming-safety rating.

A clear limit, made visible. Darkness, heavy rain or glare can prevent analysis. Conditions may still be shown, but they do not replace the missing camera information.

Whatever the screen shows, check the flags and follow the patrol.
